Hid Kits Poised for Mainstream Breakthrough in ’09

Having been an aftermarket presence for numerous years and now becoming standard equipped in some higher end luxury models, HID headlights are an undeniable jewel in the automotive crown. Millions of drivers yearn to become more educated on the world of HID kits, throwing themselves at the possibilities with open arms. Sure, HID kits have been around for a little while. It is not exactly “new technology.” But it is stylish technology, and also immeasurably safer during sketchy driving conditions than OEM halogens. Adding up all of the variables and formulating the proper equation brings but one result: HID kits will reach ‘household name’ status in the coming year. Because of their propensity to present a much brighter road ahead, HID kits are widely encouraged for their brand of safety and are DOT compliant throughout the US.

HID outputs are measured in K (Kelvin). This also determines their hue. For instance, the higher the K, the more colorful the hue. And this is where many drivers find it to be the most interesting. Some can go for a hotter yellow. Others prefer the shockingly white radiance that is normally witnessed around 5000K, while many also crave the dramatic blue at 15000K that has become such a stunning and electric look. You have seen these headlights before, surely. There is no mistaking them. It is that essence why even at still a young stage in their existence, HID kits are already legendary automotive upgrades.

I am often asked to name the HID company that I feel is the best quality, best deal, and brightest light. Less than a year ago, that would have been a little tough. As I mentioned above, the Notto® SE HID kit is a simple installation procedure for just about everyone, but no matter which kit you have, the key is preparation and confidence. Take a look at the tips below and use them as a guide to give you an idea of what the process is all about!
1) Know your bulb size!
2) Do your homework. Look at your vehicle manual while scanning the contents under the hood. Learn where everything is ahead of time. Too often, drivers purchase HID conversion kits and try to do it all at once. While it is a quick install, it doesn’t hurt to be prepared for where everything goes once you have the kit in your possession.
3) Secure a pair of rubber gloves. Xenon HID bulbs are extremely sensitive. Natural oils or dirt from your fingers can corrupt the bulbs, rendering them ineffective. If you must use your bare hands, be sure to not touch the glass lamping of the bulbs.
4) Perform installation during the daytime or in a well-lit garage. While this may sound trite, it is too important not to mention. You are going to have to test the HID system to make sure it is working properly. That means ensuring that the wires and components are in the correct places. There is nothing worse than fumbling around with wires and the like when there is work to be done!

The future of automotive culture is changing. In 2009, we will see more options, more promises, and more models. But one thing will not change: the desire for fashion-sense and the need for safety. That is what customizing is all about. For many, HID kits aren’t only aesthetically pleasing, but they are a must for their level of security by itself. That is certainly something to keep in mind. You are always going to want to do what is best for you and your vehicle. Increasing your exterior awareness is perennially a goal for many drivers. But safety usually blends into an afterthought. We all sometimes take it for granted. HID kits give you the promise of an iconic, sizzling image and stable piece of mind that will serve you proudly, no matter where the blackened roads may guide you.
